Late Summer Fields

I became a Solarstone fanatic after hearing that their music influences many big names in trance and house music today. I happened to read an article in a music magazine: it was an interview with Ferry Corsten. He stated that "Late Summer Fields" by Solarstone was right at the top of his list of favorites. So I had to give it a try.

I searched Wikipedia and found out Solarstone released an album in late June, titled Rain Stars Eternal. As soon as I got my hands on the album, the first and only thing I could think of doing was playing Late Summer Fields. It's track number 4 on the album.

The track is mind-blowing, and if you listen to it the way I did: full volume with extra bass, it will blow you off your chair (if you still manage to remain sitting once the track begins). The rhythm kicks in with the jumpy bassline entwined with the mid-synths that collectively floor you with the opening lyrics: "Let's spend the day in bed / Encase me with your armor / Spin your silver thread / Keep me safe from harm". You get the picture: Mr. Corsten wasn't exaggerating.

The track features delicate breakdowns that bring the piano to the fore. This is one of the best trance tracks I have heard. The almost 7 minute track flashes by so quickly. The only thing to do then is press the button called replay; which is exactly what I did. Immediately. Without thinking even for a second. For the next three days. Mindlessly. Sweet bliss.
